Great start back to work!

I started back at work last week after a year off. I am working Mon/Tues/Wed and my DS is going to nursery while I am at work.

Since last Thurs he has had a streaming cold, runny nose, sneezing, chesty, hacking cough. He isn't sleeping too well at night and is off his food. Also, he had his MMR jab a week last Thurs so could be side effects of that, something he picked up at nursery or teething.

I haven't been to work so far this week as I don't feel he is up to going to nursery, but I feel such a fraud not going to work because I have only been back a week! If I go tomorrow I will only have done 1 day this week!

Am I being silly to feel this way?

Could your DH not take tomorrow off?

No you aren't ,i would feel the same but you have a valid reason for having the time off.
I am currently on sick leave (mat leave ended on 18th)and i feel the same as you and i haven't been back yet!i am dreading going back because of it!

It is more difficult for DH to take time off work. His job is more responsible and pressured than mine is now, and his boss is really funny about things like that. Also, we rely on his salary whereas I am only working PT and so don't feel as bad about letting work down IYSWIM.

DS is on the mend I think, he seems better in himself but I am taking him to the dr this avo to be sure. He has played a bit this morning but he woke up in the night screaming last night and wouldn't settle for ages which isn't like him at all.

He doesn't sleep that well at nursery so I am hesitant about him going in case it sets him back.

TBH this is always the dilemma when you are working. And when you start them at nursery they pick up lots of bugs before they build up their immunity. So it should hopefully get better in the long run.
