Basically dp works in quite senior role, so it not sure his business area is in jeopardy but as he works away 5 days a week, we were thinking about him leaving after august, so when it was announced today that they are making redundancies and will notify those whose jobs are on the line on thursday.
They are using statutory redundancy.

Am I right in thinking it is one weeks pay of every year you have been there?
That the maximum for that weeks pay is £270 (why is there such a low maximum anyway) Max allowable £8,100.

Are you also entitled to your normal notice period?

Dp is considering whether he should opt for voluntary if he can so he wants to try and gauge what he could be entitled to IYSWIM

stuff here

and here

I took voluntary & left last month - best thing I ever did. Mind you we got an enhanced package. I think basically, providing firms stick to baisc guidelines, they can set their own procedures/rates.

they said only offering statutory
But dp has a 3 mth notice period plus 9 yrs service, see now weekly maximum is £290.
Hmmm plus tax free up to £30k...
Thanks Whizz, I'm not sure he will be "allowed" to opt for it, but it helps knowing whats what...

It's one week's pay between the ages of 22 and 41 and one and a half week's pay between 42 and 65. Max allowed now is (I think ) £290 pw.

His redundancy notice should not be shorter than his contractual notice or they are in breach of contract and he could sue for balance.

Thanks, so we know what we're looking at then roughly speaking...
We will have to wait until thursday to see those identified as being at risk I guess
Bit scary, change is
