Help need advice about paternity leave

Hello just a quick question I know my partner isn't entitled to 2 weeks leave as he is self employed, my mum has just told me the leave then gets passed onto grandparents if he is self employed has anybody else heard this xx

Sadly, as far as the law stands you need to have an employment contract in order to be entitled to statutory paternity pay. There is no equivalent for self-employed dads as things stand at the moment, and certainly no option of passing the leave on to grandparents or anyone else for that matter.

Oh thanks for advise my mums team leader said he was sure there was something in place!! God knows where he has got that from xx

She is probably thinking of a recent news story where someone or other was talking about how there ought to be an option for grandparents. It doesn't exist at the moment. Sorry.
