Making children's clothes

I have recently learnt the basics of sewing and fancy doing something with my new skills to make some money. I'll need to learn more and buy a better sewing machine but I wondered if anyone could advise me on making clothes to sell?
What sort of machine should I be looking for?
Is it a ridiculous idea? i.e. will it be making me £2 per hour?!

I wish you every success, but given that clothes are so cheap in supermarkets... I'd be dubious about your hourly rate!

I'm not the only one who doesn't like supermarket clothes though surely?

I don't. I like the brand 'Wild things' I think it's called, who make to order.

I'm not sure what to advise about machines, I only have a basic one and you'll know far more than I.

What about special items eg christening gowns, fancy dresses.
