I work at Tesco (snigger) as a beep beep check out girl - and as I haven't worked there long enough before my daughter is due, I'm not entitled to any SMP from them, or so they say. My manager has been so unsupportive, shes 50+ divorced, no kids and now seems very bitter about my bump.
I woyld love to becoem a registered childminder and get myself out of this rut, My partner and I cant really afford for me to give up work for very long after she's born, so it would seem like a flexible solution, unfortuniately I feel a bit feckless about the whole situation and need some one to shove me down the right path...

motivational kick any one please?

Have you actually checked your legal position re:SMP \link{http://www.greatplacetowork.gov.uk/er/matleafr.htm\here} ie you'd need to have been employed or 26 weeks by 15 weeks before your due date and be paying NI. If not you may get Maternity Allowance.

nope I only started working there when I was 15 weeks - so they will pay me nothing, and due to my age (i've only just left full time education), Im not entitled to any maternity allowance as lack of NI...
