Ive become stuck in a customer call centre rut and need to get out. My cv is not the greatest and it is not getting any interest. Ive tried doing it myself but looking online, all advice is conflicting and I need help.

But I dont want to throw money away. Are they good?

I've not used one, as when I researched them, I found various articles / forum posts saying that they aren't good generally.

I would suggest signing up with as many recruitment agencies as possible and once you have established a rapport with them, ask for the agents' advice on what could improve your CV. Agents quite often do a cut and paste job on CVs they receive anyway, so they should be able to tell you how to improve yours.

I've generally found the advice given by The Guardian to be good; they have a dedicated CV section in their Careers section.

My husband did. His CV looked fantastic after - I think it cost about £30 and it was money well spent. And he got a great job!

Also when I was job hunting I used elements of it to do my CV too. More the phrasing really

I got a few free examples - they were alright but what really annoyed me when I was unemplyed that the job centre had some so called experts in to do them for us. When I got mine back it was full of typos and errors. When I went on one of those courses they send you off to I showed them and they were horrifed.

What annoyed me was that I had not kept an old one I had done and with all their mucking it around I had to go back and get dates and stuff as I am not good at remember start and end dates.

Which reminds me - so many job application forms now ask for the Day you started not just the month or year - who can remember that??!!
