Hi everyone,
background is that I went back to work four years ago on a 0.4 contract, in a technical project admin role and have managed to work school(ish) hours around it. I have a first degree in Engineering and am currently working towards an MBA by distance learning.
Now the current contract is coming to an end and, looking at the job market it will be next to impossible for me to find a job at a similar level with similar hours, so I am looking for alternatives.
I live in a semi-rural location, about an hour's drive from the two nearest cities, so my thinking is moving towards a job-share, working 2.5 days per week and using a childminder for two days per week.
I have no experience of job share at all. Am I "allowed" to apply for full time jobs but highlight on the application that I am looking for a job share? Sorry if that is a really basic question. Do I have to find a job-share partner before I apply? Do roles get advertised as open to job share?
I work in the public sector (university) at the moment, but my background (before children) was in manufacturing industry. I am assuming that the public sector is the most open to job sharing.
Any help or advice, or even an idea of the chances of my finding a job share in the East Midlands would be much appreciated.
