When I requested flexible working I had a lovely form to fill in with bullet points and it was very standard.

DH's work want an email proposal.

I have decided to help Grin (because I would like it done quicker than he will get round to it, and am currently incapacitated with a bad leg)

so please can you read through this and tell me if I need to trim ot down, or chop things out etc etc.

a bit of info: DH is the ONLY person in his company to do his job, but they seem quite family friendly.

To whom it may concern,
I would like to apply for flexible working for tge above proposed hours because I have parental responsibility for 1 child under the age of 5, with another child due in October. I am making this request to provide childcare 1 day per week.

my proposal is designed to have minimal impact on both my individual role and the company as a whole, it does not require a reduction in workload or in hours. I believe the benefits far exceed and reduction in number of days worked.

currently I work 9 - 5, which does not cover the amount of hours our phonelines are open. this means that currently someone covers my role as and when at least 5 days a week. With the expansion of our European business meaning calls are coming in earlier and ending later, having me availavle for longer each day will be a huge benefit and reduce the amount of cover needed. we have less experiences staff answering these calls and having the additional support available will mean a smoother transition.

As I often take on extra tasks such as xxx and yyy, my proposal means I can maintain this as I will be working the same hours per week, while maintaining high visibility in the workplace.

The need for covering my role would be reduced to only one day, which would improve consistency and gives another staff member the opportunity to take on the role for 1 full day, as opposed to a few hours here and there daily, which can be quite disruptive for them.

my proposed shift for a Friday reflects that this is our quietest day in the office and I need to drop my child off at Nursery at 8am.

I hope this can be accomodated for the reasons stated above and look forward to hearing from you,

yours xxxxx

the person who covers him now would still be tge one to cover him so no need to train anyone or promote anyone, pkus it means that person is not flitting between roles at least twice a day.

he can be flexible for meetings as can switch his day off between a Monday, weds or thurs as my motger can take her for one of these days a week but has difficulties so needs notice. she struggles with dd now and with no. 2 on the way one nursery day is pretty much our budget lol
