Worked messed up my mat leave SMP pay

Can anyone offer any advice. My employer has messed up my SMP and started it June 1st instead of July 8th (today) I was approved for a month of annual leave but receiving my paycheck last month they messed up and started my Mat leave and now telling me there's nothing they can do about it. They have also can't say when I will actually get my annual leave now and I am unsure if lawfully they can give me 6 weeks of mat leave (which might end before the baby is even here) then annual leave and then the rest on mat leave pay again. They said there's nothing they can do about it and honestly I have no idea how this would work out for Working Tax Credits as well.

Speak to hmrc, they'll be very helpful.

Assuming that you retain all your holiday entitilement whilst you are off on SML, then you could potentially tag the annual leave onto the very end of your SML. This means that you effectively start getting paid again a month before having to go back work. I did this with my DS and having a bit of extra cash was great just at the point where the finances were getting a bit low - and funded the last couple of weeks' activities whilst I put off the thought of going back to work!
