Too old, too thin for Art School job?

I have now seen three adverts for Life Models at the local college on community noticeboards. The adverts seem to reappear with monotonous regularity which is a negative but I would like get back to work (long story typical of millions) and the hours (and the money)would be really convenient for me.
Is there any point somebody in their 40s even bothering to apply for this kind of work??

I would say yes. I imagine older bodies have more interest to art students as lumps, bumps, wrinkles etc are more of a challenge. I once considered being a life model. I have no qualms about taking my clothes off but I would expect the heating to be cranked up. No way would I take my clothes off in a cold draughty hall .

I used to do life drawing classes years ago (as a student not a model) and we had people of all shapes, sizes and ages modelling for us, male and female so go for it!

Just out of interest is the money good?

....and at your name, especially as Pipkins mentioned taking your clothes off in cold, draughty halls!

Having been to art school, holding a pose well is the requirement rather than physical beauty ( remembering wee beardy man in his seventies who was one of the regulars in my day). Life models tend to be a real eccentric mixture of types so I wouldn't worry too much.

I also did life modelling many years ago, but I am afraid I was pre kids and in my twenties so was rather sylph like. I used to get £ 10 pounds an hour compared to the £3 pounds an hour I earned in a shop. It helps if you are good at daydreaming.

It says that they pay from £12.00 per hour. I'm going to phone them up on Monday to see when the auditions would be. I think I might forget to tell DH what I'm planning to do though!
