Colleague has smelly feet!

Hello all
I sit next to a woman who wears patent shoes without tights every day. To say it smells is an understatement, it makes me feel sick! Even my colleagues can smell it from a few metres away.

The lady is relatively new and not one for banter so wwyd?! This is me at work!

Anyone?! I'm going to the office and can't put up with the smell anymore. How can I tell her in a nice way?

You need to speak to your line manager.

Do you think the line manager needs to deal with it or would it be kinder to speak to her myself to save her embarrassment of others knowing about her cheesy feet? It is just trying to did a nice way to tell her!

Ha - i sat opposite a colleague on a train once who had surreptitiously slipped off her shoes and it honked. I pretended not to notice bur commented innocently that there was a right smell of cheese that was minging. Cue her putting her shoes back on and looking sheepishh. Cruel but less cruel than involving a middle man. Deal with it yourself rather than getting your line manager to do it.

I was told that the kind way to approach it is to leave an anonymous friendly note in the envelope.

Just to update you, I told her. I said, 'can you smell something funny around here?' She sniffed about and said she couldn't. Then the phone rang. When she came off the phone she asked me what I thought I could smell, and I asked her if it could be her shoes. She shook her head and said she didn't think it was. So I thought, 'damned!' And asked her to take them off and have a whiff.
When she did she admitted they did pong and apologised.
I felt so bad I went out and bought her a cupcake.

Give your colleague these tipps:

• Wash your feet well
• Dry them thoroughly
• Wear socks (maybe sneacker socks in the summer)
• Put removable cedarsoles (e.g. zederna insoles) in your shoes. They absorb the sweat which causes stinky feet. They also have a special menthol-like flavour

Thanks all, I just hope she takes on board what I said and she doesn't wear the plastic shoes again! I don't want to have to tell her twice.

plastic can be washed - worst are those made of cheap fake leather :(
