My daughter started an apprenticeship as a trainee chef last September. Unfortunately the restaurant she has been working in is closing at the end of June. She was not informed of this, the first she knew of this was when a member of our family received an email from the restaurant, "as a valued customer" letting them know they were closing and offering them cheap meals as a "thank you for their custom"
Also, she is due to be paid £100 per week, however she has not always received this payment, or sometimes it is paid into her bank, sometimes given in cash. There is no regular payment date and she can go weeks without being paid. She has never received a payslip either, although she does have a contract of employment.
I just want to find out if anyone knows what her rights are as regards her apprenticeship? are the restaurant responsible for helping her find another position, as they have closed her placement? Also with regards to her pay, are apprenticeships funded by the Government - and therefore the restaurant would have received grants from the Government - which they have not passed on to her (possibly then committing fraud?).
I'd be grateful for any advice anyone can give me!
