I had your job for the past 5 years and it is with huuuge regret (but sometimes a little relief) that I have found alternative employment with more pay. Wishing you lots of sunny, feel-good days, lots of luck and many new friendships.

Whizzz · 30/05/2006 19:25

I have the same new job as fisil Grin
My 'boss' just told me I was the best 'in the whole history' Grin

fullmoonfiend · 30/05/2006 19:27

well done Whizz - you get a bonus at the end of the week (introduce your boss to the joys of a trip to the coffee shop for cake Wink)

Whizzz · 30/05/2006 19:34

How did you knw thats what I was planning Grin

fisil · 30/05/2006 19:38

fullmoonfiend - when you mentioned "bonus" I thought "ah - I'll be too knackered for that." However, a trip to the cake shop sounds fab.

Pruni & twiglett - I did actually enjoy today! But several people have said to see friends and that during the first week (up to two months) I'll think "what have I done?"

Seriously, my best advice is to have something planned (however mundane)for every day. Otherwise the thought of all those weeks, days, minutes and seconds to fill can seem very daunting. A little structure to the week can help enormously IME.

fisil · 30/05/2006 19:45

I am the queen of planning - in fact I think I might have even gone too far. I've made a planning sheet for each week. This morning ds1 and I did our list for the day and planned our menu for the week.

I'll see if I can get my plan onto a weblink so that you can laugh at how much I am running this whole SAHM thing like a business!

Only way to cope with it is to meet up with other people with kids, as often as you can - that way the kids distract each other a bit and are less in your face. And the summer (what summer?) is the best time to start as on the occasional days when it's not raining you can have a picnic and a perfect excuse not to cook. Having said that I copped out recently and started working p/t again Smile

yackertyyack · 31/05/2006 13:42

ohhh fisil - total respect to you. Can you give me some tips Grin I am going back to being a SAHM from friday and last time I was so disorganised I was better off at work!!
