Nanny share.....HELP!!

Hi Y'all!
My preferred childcare option is a 'live-out' nanny, as I am about to go back to work. However, I appreciate that this is also the most expensive option too. But - what about nanny share? Splitting the cost between 2 families would suddenly make this a very attractive proposition indeed. However, my big issue is - I have found 2 x excellent (on paper and also personal recommendation) prospective nannies - but how the devil do I go about trying to seek a.n.other family who would/could nanny-share with me? Area = Bricket Wood (HERTS), so location needs to be close, for this to work! Needle in a haystack / miracle required - or is this in any way remotely possible......?
Anyone help with any suggestions please?
Many thanks in eager anticipation!

Can you advertise at your local GP's surgery or HV?

Maybe the gumtree - look under "nanny/mother's help" in Employment, and also in "work wanted" - I have seen nannyshare ads on there.

Oh, there's also this site but I find it really cumbersome and it seems to be used more by nannies than parents, so you mightn't be reaching your target people there. And finally tinies site where you can place your own ad - it's an agency, though, and I don't know anyone who's used it.

You can tell I'm in a similar position can't you? Except I'm looking for afterschool help in central London.

Richie, do you mean for the nanny to look after both children together, or for the nanny to wor for each family for different days of the week? Has the nanny agreed?

There is a childcare exchange called SIMPLY CHILDCARE where many families advertised for a nanny share, and you can place you own ad. I think the number/details have been posted on MN before so you could search. They are based in Bushey Something (Hill?)Rd in London SE5, but I think they have extended their remit to the Herts. They are really good. I found our nannyshare that way.

I'm trying to do the same thing...local nanny agencies will introduce families to each other...for free if you employ one of their nannies ..or for a fee (£100) if the nanny is found by you.

BLU, sorry I've been off line - my dd has had gastro enteritis (or however you spell it!) so have been up many hours with her and feeling zombie-fied and thus didn't log on for a while. What I mean is that a nanny would look after both family's child/ren, on same days each week. Yet to find a nanny. A good friend of mine did this and it worked very well for all parties. Seemed like a good idea to me. I have just today, subscribed to Simply Childcare from having read your message this morn. Thank you!

FM and TWIGLETT - great ideas thanks. I shall try all.

BINKIE - I'mm gonna try the gumtree next. (Never heard of it before - so thanks - you never know!) Good luck with your after school help.

Hey BLUBEAR, I never knew that - what comforting news.

ALL - little did I realise (or rather I should I say I forgot) how much help, assistance and 'nudging in the right direction' I get from all you 'netters' !!
Feel like I'm an inspired woman on a mission now! Thank you all!
