Is one months notice a calendar month or 4 weeks?

If the contract doesn't specify which would normally hold true ?

Does it depend on how you get paid?

I had a job which paid 4 weekly. So I gave 4 weeks' notice.

If you were paid calendar monthly - I would give a calendar month's notice.

However, I don't know for sure.

If the contract says one month's notice, then it does specify, surely? A month is a month. Four weeks is four weeks.

If the contract says nothing, then the notice you have to give is one week. If it specifies a month, it's a month, not 4 weeks.

On ours it is one month from the first of that month.... so could actually be close to 2 months if you decide to put in your notice on the second of the month... it will be written in your contract.

Agree with flowery. A month is a month. Four weeks is not a month (except in February and not a leap year - pedant mode off!). The term "one month" doesn't need to be defined. It means what it says.
