Advice over bonus payment.

My daughter works for a company. Last month they were set a particular target which had to be achieved to allow them to earn any bonuses this month.
She went over and above her job requirements to fulfill this (visiting clients at home to finish work required after her shift ended etc.
This month she has worked her butt off, changing shifts at short notice, doing extra work , working through her breaks to earn her bonus, she has out performed her colleagues twice over.
Last week her bonus amount was confirmed. Today, the day before she is due her pay,the manager came in and said no one was getting a bonus this month, just a token payment.
Can they do this after giving her confirmation?
She is really upset and angry about this as she feels why bother to put in the extra effort when those around her output half of what she does and will also get this token payment.

This might be breach of contract. Does she have a contractual entitlement to bonuses in general, and/or anything about how bonuses are calculated? Does she have anything in writing about the bonus for the month in question?

I will have to check with her when she comes home tonight. She is requesting a meeting with her manager to put forward her case, but not feeling optimistic
Its not a big firm unfortunately and from what she has described the manager can be a bit loud shouty and erratic (its his company).

If the owner of the company is foolish enough to piss of someone who has gone above and beyond to deliver agreed targets and then goes back on the bonus promised, I'd be looking for another job, regardless of whether the bonus is paid or not. This will not play out well in the long term.

Shes already applying. I think hes an idiot personally. She is a bloody hard worker who brought in 30k of business for him last month alone. And now hes reneging on a 300 bonus. She even went into work on crutches 2 weeks after breaking her ankle last year. Because doesnt like letting people down.
apparently there is a bonus clause in her contract
but every month he changes the goalposts. It also contains a clause saying they can withold payments for no reason..

Aa argh - she needs to get out. She shoukdn't have any problems getting a job - good sales people are rare in any economic climate.
