I am going to do some work alongside my PAYE job, small to start with, but with a view to it becoming my main job once I have built up some clients and I think I can earn enough to quit (or, more likely, hold out for redundancy that is possible next year).
Please let me know any fabulous tips for managing being self employed, especially alongside another job, but all tips will be gratefully received!
How cool is that?!!
And. I would like to say 'thank you' all the Mumsnetters who have inspired me to not accept 'my lot' and to believe in myself, to think outside my normal bubble and consider that I might be actually be able to work for myself, be successful at it. Of course I have my DH supporting me too, but without MN I am sure I would have still be plodding along, happy enough working for The Man, but not fulfilling my true potential, and finding myself at risk of unemployment with no real direction. In particular, unpopular as she often is in her opinions, and for getting everyone's back up, Xenia has been an inspiration, in particular some posts she wrote on a thread last year with the OP asking how to make £1000 working from home. She, and some others, came up with some fab ideas and it inspired me to give things a go myself, using skills that have just been sat not being used.
There are lots of fabulous women on here (men too i'm sure, but largely, women, let's be honest) who have courage to put themselves out there and take some chances. Keep believing in yourself
