I realise there's a similar thread at the moment but I don't want to hijack it! I don't even have a job at the moment but I'm looking (though half hearted i must admit at the moment ) because money is tight. It would only be part time. However if anything is ever mentioned about my needing to work for example in conversation with dh ds1 aged 7 gets very upset and says things like no I don't want mummy to work I need her to take me to school/pick us up from school, look after us in the holidays etc etc. Apparently that's my job! Ds2 aged 5 then joins in though I feel he gets cajoled into it! I feel in two minds about working as it is but this just makes me feel worse. What would he be like if I did find a job? Sad

he would get used to it. they both would. don't dismiss working because your children are guilt tripping youSmile kids like to be in their comfort zone. hate change. fight it. (i remember being that age well and being subjected to many life changes that both freaked me out and frightened me) bit they are also massively adaptable. if it happens, it will be hard for all of you to start with because they don't know Any other way right now, but I bet it wouldn't take too long to adjust. for them I mean. I'm again as a parent the guilt never leavesGrin

my DS is awful about changes -and new things -but its the idea of them -when they actually happen he is fine -
tips - only talk about it when its actually going to happen - so don't mention it again,
present the childcare plan to them when you get a job- so while looking for job look at childcare opitions as well, make sure they visit the childcare before you start work - and present the good things about you working - such as nice holidays or whatever
