Work asking for me to do more hours?

Hello,Since returning from Maternity Leave 3 years ago I have worked part-time, I have recently asked for my hours to change to fit in with school hours, but have been informed that the job has grown and they are pushing for me to do more hours than I have requested. Can they do this? and if I don't what can they do? - the job is now a full-time job?

As an employer I looked into this. Yes they can increase the hours. I was advised that I first had to offer it to the current person, if they did not want the increase in hours I should then advertise for a job share. If I was unable to find a suitable job share I could then make the member of staff redundant on the basis that the part time position no longer existed.
