Smp, and sickness during qualifying week

Hi again,

I am currently off sick with stress and anxiety while pregnant due to workplace bullying (my complaint has been upheld but this has had a huge affect on me and on the baby - I'm 16.5 weeks pregnant)

I am concerned that I have been off sick during my qualifying week for mat pay. It is paid sick though as I have a great sickness record prior to this.

I have however just read that in order to qualify for smp you need to work at least one day during your qualifying week (which I guess is around this time)

Is this right? Can I be refused smp or company mat pay for being off sick when pregnant? It sounds wrong to me but I would like some clarity please xxx

Please help

Not at all, what you've read is totally wrong. You need to be employed at least one day, but that doesn't mean 'at work'. You could be on holiday or off sick and that still counts.

Oh thank god.

Google and anxiety do NOT mix lol!
