What's a good job for mornings only?

I've got 2DCs a year apart and the second will start playschool/nursery mid next year.
I am utterly bored as a SAHM... so I'm trying to think of working opportunities that would fit around the playschool hours-9.30-1230 (not very long) but we can't afford childcare and I also chose not to go back to work and mind the children myself in the first place so it would defeat the object to put them into daycare.
I am well qualified (previously taught high school) but have been out of work since 2010. Some people mention tutoring but that tends to be after school which I can't do.
Has anyone out there found something that fits around these kinds of hours? Thanks!

I am in almost exactly the same boat Craving although I'm not well qualified-I've spoken to the local High school about volunteering there as a TA with the hope I'll have a foot in the door when my DS starts fulltime school in 2014

Yes, I had thought about TA work, Unacceptable, as a friend I know is doing some in a local school voluntarily but of course it might lead elsewhere. I'm actually open to lots of things. I can touch type etc. I like the idea of being in a more social environment as it's lonely at home, isn't it?

Cleaning? Most people I know that have cleaners tend to have them in the morning.

Could you do supply teaching mornings only or does it not work like that with secondary? I do primary supply and love the half days!

Dog walking?

I think the only people I know who manage to work during a 3 hour nursery session (bearing in mind that some of this is lost in settling them in and travelling time) do something (either paid or unpaid) at the nursery itself or local school.

It is possible to do online tutoring in some subjects if you would be able to do something like that in the evening rather than leaving the house/having someone over to your house. I don't know that that's particularly helpful to you though.

I know a few people who do a lot of craft type things and sell them on ebay or facebook, but I'm not sure what you could make/sell or how much market there is (and I know it wouldn't suit me as I need to be speaking to people)

I'm a cleaner in Waitrose 2 hours a day. It is only minimum wage but the hours are good, it's good to get out and meet people and fits around family

Work a morning shift at a restaurant? It's not glamorous or using your raining but there's nothing to take home and you'll meet scads of people and get your social time!

Thanks for all the great ideas. I'm going to look into these. I know you can't expect to earn much but it's difficult to be of any financial 'use' to the family with a 2-hr slot.

GW re supply teaching, as far as I know most supply work in secondary is picked up by cover supervisors who are on permanent contracts but which works out cheaper for the school. I could ask my local comp though if they needed support anywhere.

Now that's a really good one, books. I love Usborne as well. Have been to one of their book parties at a friend's place.
