Overtime and maternity pay

I have been owed some overtime for work I did a year ago, but didn't put my claim form in until the invoice had been paid. I actually didn't really consider the timing of the payment (have been emailing payroll for past 6 months to check funds in). Anyway, I finally submitted OT form and have been paid £2000. However, I have realised this has coincided with the period when mat pay is calculated. I don't normally do OT, I am a bit worried this will look fraudulent. To complicate things slightly, I have not been paid from the usual budget code, but directly from this invoice (which also bought income into the service, as we were paid around £12000 for the work I did but I only claimed £2000), however, the money was paid with my normal pay.
Also, my line manager wasn't involved in this, as this was work I did for the director of the team and so he signed my time sheet and so a different budget was used. She wasn't aware of the work (she's only been there a year), so wasn't involved with any of this (although I'm not sure my pay would be flagged up asI think the lead of the service gets the overall budget statement from my dept and she prob wouldn't notice. I think I will be getting £400 more for 2 months and then £200 for 4 months.
Am I worrying too much? (pregnancy hormones!)

Wow - this sounds complicated!

Won't they calculate your mat pay based on your contractual salary rather than one particular month's payslip?

Yes you are worrying too much. As long as it is pay you are genuinely entitled to, there's no issue. HMRC won't be examining which budget codes your pay was put against.

SMP is calculated on money actually received during an 8 week period Anything, whether that pay is contractual or not makes no difference.

Thanks for the quick replies. I suppose I am worried as this was work I did which was outside my normal role, so I guess it could be queried. I was thinking of mentioning to the director next week in case anyone queries it. He was fully supportive of me being paid though and felt I should have got it all! It just might look a bit odd on the budget line....

I wouldn't worry. My pay for the 3 months prior to Mat leave was LOADS higher than normal as I only had 13 weeks to take 7 weeks worth of leave.

I usually did 3 shifts a week, but for those 13 weeks I worked one shift and the rest was annual leave. But shifts still needed covering so I did 1 or 2 shifts extra a week and got paid overtime for them.

My maternity pay was fantastic! Grin Unfortunately they changed the way overtime worked by my 2nd pregnancy...
