Should I say anything or just leave it?

Just looking for some tips or advice. I am going to be off work until early next year, mat leave. Just before I finished up a lot of proposals I put forwarded were accepted and will be rolled out in my absence. That's great except for one thing. One of the developments is that I get a new direct report. My boss already has someone in mind, but in the last few weeks before I left that person showed themselves to be unreliable, bad at general workload management and quite a gossip. They know I have worked this out and were openly hostile to me before I left.

So should I give my boss a heads up or just leave to fate? Part of me just thinks see what happens when back but then part of me thinks if I can try for prevention, but my boss may think I'm just being a bit OTT and will go with what they want anyway.

So any words of wisdom, please!

Yes, give the specific examples of the behaviour. WIll the person have to interview for this job or is it just a reorganisation of reporting lines?

Thanks for getting back to me. They will interview but they have been very clever in appearing very efficient tony boss. However it's mostly talk and little action!
