I'm leaving work in 3 weeks to be a SAHM and run my own business. Please take a look at my website and give me feedback!

Looks pretty easy to follow with lots of links etc. By 'eck you've got some brains haven't you?!

Bella23 · 09/05/2006 10:01

I think its a really great start.

Personally I think that the buttons at the top and down the side need to be a different type face - something a bit more bold and solid

You also need to check some of your display circles as they have tect near them that can't be read.

Hope this help

fisil · 09/05/2006 10:16

Thanks for that feedback. I am trying to get to see how it looks on lots of different computers - and I agree Bella23. The links looked great at home, but at work today they are rubbish - so I'll get to work on them.

I found the sentences beginnning "fhes..." quite hard to read initially, especially as it's all lower case and you expect acronyms to begin with capitals. Could you replace this with "We..."?

In the second sentence, you have put a space before the comma as well as after - really pedantic I know, but it looks wrong. Can you tell I once had a job as a proofreader??!

flatmouse · 09/05/2006 17:00

My personal opinion - i don't like the font that you've chosen, and i find it hard to read on the darker background.

fisil · 09/05/2006 19:09

Thanks once again for the feedback. I will make those changes tuttifrutti.

Agree with comments on fhes...., kept thinking it was a typo. Also, would change the background colour to make it more eye catching. Otherwise, very good :)

fisil · 09/05/2006 19:24

what colour do you think would be more eye catching?

I've just had a quick look, and on the about us page the testimonials are obscuring the rest of the text to the left...

quanglewangle · 09/05/2006 19:29

None of images download for me. The links work but there is no picture or text, just a blank box with the broken link icon.

fisil · 09/05/2006 19:30

that's extremely useful feedback Betty - because on mine they aren't, but the testimonials are in a text box which means they will wander (like the oval further down has done) depending on the shape of your screen. I will have to change the formatting.

OK, the site load fine in IE but not in Firefox. Firefox is very common these days.
What package did you use to build the site?

fisil · 09/05/2006 19:32

I just did it on word

All the images are broken for me (another firefox user) also I notice there is no alt text on many of the pictures, that's not good from an accessibility point of view.

To see screenshots of your site on many different operating systems and with different browsers, have a look at \link{http://browsershots.org/\this site}, I find it extremely useful.

HTH

Good luck in your venture!

fisil · 09/05/2006 19:40

popsy, did you just try to msn me? What happened (something dodgy is going on with my laptop)

OP posts:
fisil · 09/05/2006 21:50

Thanks Butternutsquash - I can see my problem now. Maybe I'll have to spend some money on the thing! I've always worked in the public sector and I think I'm a bit naive about spending money to tout for business!
