what to charge for transcription work

I work as a freelance pa/secretary/bookkeeper/anything, have got some transcription work but am not sure what to charge. The audio is of 3 people, with some medical terms, accents (one quite strong)...

I know people charge per audio minute and was wondering what the going rate is? I would rather charge by hour worked.

TIA

bumping before the school run.

The audio tapes are 3 x 50 minutes, so I was thinking £150 for the lot, which includes proofing/research. Think that breaks down to £1/audio minute.

Have a look at what agencies charge. I have a feeling that medical stuff, given the variety of unusual technical terms used, is gnereally slightly higher priced. I do a bit of transcription and generally charge £10 an hour (ie hour worked) which is on the low side but I am not professionally qualified and only do a bit here and there anyway.
