it's a health service application (admissions clerk) and asks for 2 references which they will contact before an interview...and I'm stumped

I have my own business so have put my accountant down as one (have yet to ask him)

who else can I use...it says not friends or relatives..any ideas how to create someone?

Perhaps a former work colleague, anyone your know neighbour etc. who has a "professional" job,
do you know any teachers/governors at school very well.

Thats sounds good zippi just refer to her a s a business woman and not as a friend. I had to give 3 so had 2 from my present job along with a police officer i come accross occasionally, he is such a sweetheart (new daddy) he was more than pleased to be a reference for me ( I have an interview).

Usually it is acceptable to give a second reference as a charactor reference, in your position so your business woman friend would probably be fine. Cite her as a business colleague. If you are concerned ring up their recruitment department - this won't affect your application in any way as the recruitment team din't usually have any connection with the people doing the shortlisting.

The application specifically said no friends or relatives and on the form for the reference it says relationship..for the accountant I've put accountant..what should i put for friend ..business?
