Due to go back to work in April. Have requested to go from 5 to 4 days. They have agreed to this but that the day dropped will be a rolling day. I'm not happy about this. They sighted the needs of the service but not specifics. I work in clinics which don't change from week to week. There are colleagues how have reduced ours and have fixed days. I haven't had a good relationship with my immediate manager and all contact while on maternity leave I have had to initiate and chase. Really starting to dread going back now. We're going to have to hire a childminder full time and I will end up working at a loss. Where do I go from here?

Well you can appeal the decision. Have you asked your manager for a proper explanation? If you manager can tel you why they came to the decision they did, you may be able to think of way where it won't be detrimental to the service.
