Eligibility for maternity pay/mat allowance

I am working part-time in a school, and have a fixed-term contract that ends at the end of the academic year, i.e. this August. I'll have been working here for over a year by the time my contract ends.

I am pregnant and due in September (haven't yet told my employers). Am I eligible for maternity pay? Or maternity allowance?

You will be eligible for statutory maternity pay. To get that you need to be continually employed by the same employer for 26 weeks leading into the 15th week before your due date, which you will have been. You also need to earn an average of more than £107 a week, which I assume you do?

Your employer will need to pay you SMP even after your employment ends.
