Am I entitled to sick pay!

I am not going to be at work for around 6weeks due to me fracturing my ankle!

I work 16 hours per week but I am only contracted for 8 hours. I get £6.35 per hour. Do you know If I am entitled to statuary sick pay?

Also am I still entitled to my working tax credits?

You wouldn't be eligible for SSP as you earn slightly under the threshold to qualify (£107 per week). You can apply for ESA see here which if you qualify either through NI contributions or household income will mean you can keep your working tax credits for up to 28 weeks of sickness here

Hope this helps!

Thank you very much for the reply, I will have a look at both links Smile

MOVINGFORWARD you have just really really helped me with a problem i've just posted about!

Can you still receive working tax credits if you work 16 hours but are contracted to less?

Im contracted to 14 and i'm going to ask my boss today if i can up it to 16 but i was worried i would need a new contract and stuff and he would say no!

WTC are based on actual hours worked so if your contract says 14 but you consistently work 16 you're eligible for them :)

Ahhh brilliant thanks

I spoke with my boss who said she believes I will be entitled to sick pay for 5 days. But it will only be for my contracted hours. So I normally work 16 hours but will only be paid for 16, so I guess I won't need to claim ESA on that case, will I?

You may be eligible for company sick pay as that is decided by your own company. SSP you need to be earning £107 per week to qualify for.
