Maternity leave/possible redundancy any experience?

I am a civil servant. I am on mat leave and just received a doc about my department restructuring etc. it states redundancy is unlikely but slotting in/redeployment very likely.
I know I am protected from redundancy in theory. Has anyone come through this with their job/a suitable different job or does it end with redundancy eventually?

It is unlawful to select you for redundancy because you are pregnant/on mat leave but not unlawful to make your position redundant. In this case you are entitled to be offered an alternative postion etc.... - you need to talk to them about what is going on and contact your union. They will be careful as there is a possibility of wrongful dismissal if they dont handle consulation etc with you properly...
