Need to find an accountant

How do I go about this?

We are a partnership and currently have an accountant but not particularly happy with them so looking to change.
How do we go about finding the best one? I'd rather not do a google search and no one else we know in a similar situation to recommend anyone to us.

One key thing is that we are soon re-locating overseas but will still run the business in the UK, so we need to have someone with knowledge of both countries systems (Aus) or at least have things working and set up in the most tax efficient way (which we feel our current accountant wouldn't)

Any ideas?

Id try one of the big firms who will have the global tax knowledge to assist...PWC, KPMG, or maybe PKF.

Thanks for your replies.
Do the big guys deal with little people?
I'd hate to call up and be laughed at IYKWIM

PKF particularly so!
They definately wont laugh at you. The only stumbling block could be fees...it wont be cheap!

What about trying Tax Assist Accountants? They specialise in working with small businesses and if they can't help you, I'm sure they'd recommend somebody that could.

Thanks again.
Will take a look.
Emma - when you mention fees - are they really that much more than a local accountant??

It depends on how complicated it is! Call them. You should be able to have an initial meeting/phonecall for free. They will give you a quote. Or call a Chartered Tax advisor (CTA).
You could post a request on here for a CTA to assist. Lots of accountants use this site

I am an accountant (sole practitioner), but not up to speed on double taxation treaties, sorry.
