Can anybody explain SSP in very simple terms

Can anyone explain if I am entitled to SSP or not? Simply as possible because I am on a lot of painkillers and my brain is just not working properly. I get no company sick pay

My working week runs from Monday to Sunday. I called in sick 26/12, and was then rota'd day off 27th and 28th, sick again on 29th and 30th (so 5 days counted as sick in that week). My payday was supposed to be yesterday but I have not been paid anything at all

I had a quick look online but don't understand it at all, I read it as I shouldn't be paid for the first 3 days, but I should be paid for the other 2. And if my employer can't pay it, they should have given me a form to claim it myself on the next available payday (yesterday) which they haven't.

Is that right? I have handed in a sick note 31/12 for one week but if I'm not entitled to any SSP I cannot afford to take the whole week off and would have to go back to work this weekend (back spasm, can only hobble about with a walking stick - I'm a barmaid)

Can't explain it any clearer than this really. You get SSP from the 4th day off sick as you say.

Have you asked your employer why you didn't receive it?

Sorry, the link doesn't work Confused

I have been phoning the woman that does the payroll but she's not answering(family owned business and she is never in the pub unless she is dropping off wages) so I have no idea what is going on

Sorry here

I would phone your boss rather than the person who administers payroll tbh.

My boss would just pass me off to his sister (who does the payroll) because he doesn't deal wth any problems.

I think I am going to have to get someone to take me down to work tomorrow morning when I know he will be in cleaning(and sober) and hope that he will be forced to deal with it then and there.

Thanks for confirming that I had read it right though, because I know they will try to say that I am wrong and not entitled to anything at all
