There are 2 types of doula, a birth doula and a baby doula (?)
Their names speak for themselves really. A birth doula helps women through parts of their pregnancy but primarily the birth. They aren't a substitue for a midwife, more like a substitute for your mum.
A baby doula helps as much or as little as you want after the birth with housework, caring for baby etc.

Festivefly · 13/01/2004 12:24

Pupuce are you a Doula? I quite fancy doing it, what is the training?

pupuce · 13/01/2004 12:26

Yes I am.... but best place to read about training is on the link below.

Festivefly · 13/01/2004 12:36

I asked the wrong question i can see, sorry, only read the first paragraph!

Festivefly · 13/01/2004 12:42

Pupuce i really fancy the idea of it (sorry scottishlass for interupting)
Do you have to be availible all of the time, how would you think a single person would cope with the flexibility. Thanks

pupuce · 13/01/2004 13:13

Festivefly · 13/01/2004 13:19

(tiptoes in ...)

Excuse me for butting in ladies, but Festivefly is wanted by pie on the January Swap thread. Pie needs your home address if you still want to be in the swap.

(and tiptoes back out...)
