Around here, it is roughly £7.50 per hour, for 6.5 hours a week.

The adverts never say though, what happens in the holidays. Do you get half pay, no pay, full pay or what ??

Also, what happens wrt to hours worked for tax credits ? Are you classed as not working for the school holidays ??

Might help actually, if i explain why i'm asking.

I have seen a cleaning job, which is 10 hours a week. I would like to apply and then find a job as dinner supervisor to make my hours up to 16.

If i did this, would i still be able to claim wtc in the school holidays or not ?

Most term time only jobs are paid for 12 months of the year, ie the total amount you would earn in a year is divided by 12 and you are paid that amount each month. So you get paid throughout the school holidays.

Some lunchtime supervisor jobs, though, are paid on a casual basis, so you put in a claim form each month. This is generally only for people who cover one or two lunchtimes a week. Best to check the contract or enquire about this when you apply.

Not sure about how this is treated for wtc though.

Here it used to be a retainer (1/2 pay in the holidays) its now been reviewed and they get 5.6 weeks extra a year instead of 13.

Our LEA uses annualised hours So you work x number of hours a week for 39 weeks a year (usual term length) and then that is divided by the 12 months, So you get the same salary every month.
