Hi,
I'm in my mid 30's and have had various jobs working in Admin/Reception type jobs, since leaving school at 16.
I have always suffered from mental health problems but have largely kept it under wraps until 2 years ago, when I had a breakdown and had to give up work.
I say it's been kept under wraps, I mean I've never told anyone how I feel but it has affected my life greatly, mainly not being able to maintain any stability in jobs, homes, relationships etc.
Anyway, I have had some great help from professionals over the 2 years and feel the best I have ever felt and would now really like to return to work.
My problem is, do I disclose to potential employers the real reason for me being unemployed for nearly 2 years?...I am worried that as things stand now it's really hard to gain employment anyway, let alone when you have a rather scatty past employment history (longest job held for 2 years) and recent mental health issues.
A friend suggested I make something up like I've been caring for a relative or something along those lines....what do others thing I should do?
