My due date is tomorrow. Today I received a confirmation of redundancy.

Bloody marvelous.

Sad

Did you know this was likely to happen?

What will happen to your mat pay etc?

CarlyP · 05/04/2006 14:17

OH NO. YOU DO HAVE RIGHTS THOUGH.

MATERNITY ALLIANCE MAY BE ABLE TO HELP MORE

They aren't allowed to make you redundant while you are on maternity leave. They have to wait until the day you are due to return, and then do it. This only helps a bit, obviously. But they have to pay your maternity pay, and also any benefits that you would have been due if you had been working for the whole maternity leave period. So you accrue holiday days, which they will have to pay you for. And if they make pension contributions, they have to carry on paying those as if you were on your full salary. Then redundancy happens when you would have started back.

I know, it happened to me and confused them no end!

I'll try and find the gov leaflet.

fruitful · 05/04/2006 14:28

Uh oh, that was wrong. They've changed it.

They can make you redundant, but they still have to pay you full maternity pay plus any redundancy pay.

They are dissolving the business. I did know it was coming, but not so soon.

they are a bit dodgy with money too, I am phoning them in a minute for assurance that my SMP is going to be paid!

Bloody cowbag, I rang her, she said she would ring back in 1/2 hour when she had 'checked her legal position', and never rang back.

GRR!

their timing is great isn't it?!
this happened to one of my friends. She did get some maternity pay, but cos her firm went under earlier in her pregnancy I don't think it lasted long.
did you get through to them?
