Yeah me...left a large american company after 11 years...trying to figure out what to do next but I know its got to be part time and low stress as I want to spend as much time as possible with my little girl. Not easy is it?!

Its not and I have two little girls now to look after! Hard to walk away from
a good job which is pt but involves s log of stress !!
Teaching is an option, would involve less pay but
At least holidays would work with children.....

Have you thought about the charitable sector? Could maybe get a PT CFO role?

DomesticGoddess31 · 22/11/2012 10:15

Charity and schools are what I'm looking at and hoping for. I'm volunteering at a local secondary school in the meantime to get some relevant experience. Maybe you could do something similar?

Sounds a great idea, What are you volunteering as ? Ive thought
about a school bursar but not sure how I get into that? I'm also
currently looking at part time only. Also I'm a member if cima and think
I will have to do cpd training !! Not sure what that's going to involve !

Anyone looked at being a school bursar? Not many part time roles but
looks like a good option.

I have a friend who is a headmaster and invited me to help his finance manager. Just helping on any odd jobs and giving her the odd bit of advice as she is not a qualified accountant. They are really busy so haven't had much time to spend with me unfortunately but I'm trying to keep in touch with them regularly in the vain hope a vacancy arises at some point. My ultimate plan is to get a role as a finance admin and then finance manager at a school. Schools that have turned into an academy have a greater need for trained accountants now so I'm told.
You can volunteer for charities on www.do-it.org.uk.

I'm a CIMA member too and have looking at cpd on my to do list too :/

That's great to know, thanks so much! Also have
a friend in schools sector which is helpful!! Good to know
there are other options out there....
