Dispute about length of service

I'm about to be made redundant and there is a dispute about how long I've worked for my employer.

I started on a temporary contract for 3 months and then was made permanent. My anniversary is November 19th - this will push my length of service to 4 years. My employer is saying that the initial 3 month does not count towards my service.

I've tried googling but can't find anything.

TIA

On what basis are they saying that?

Were you definitely employed by them during that 3 months, not an agency or something? No break in between?

definition of continuous service

I'm sorry flowery Blush been offline

thanks for the link, they have said my initial 3 months was a temporary contract and therefore doesn't count

I don't have the energy to argue with them anymore

again, thanks for your help
