Long one so hang on in there Smile

Dh lost his job in January, Kind of went through a mid life wotsit and wants to stay at home with kids while I go back to work.

Now that sounds easy but it's not!!

I have been for a few interviews and this week have got 2 employers offering me jobs. The 1st is in a hospital as a healthcare assistant in theatre, the 2nd is in a school as a learning support assistant.

Both great jobs, hopsital one is long hours and early starts and working all school holidays etc... money is good.

School one is school hours term time and poorer money.

Hop one starts soon, school one starts september Shock

I deep down want the school job but am I being selfish to not go back to work till then?

I am at the moment doing home help and considering putting flyers all around the local area to see if I can do it on a self employed basis.

So advice, previous experience, and whatever else much appreciated.

Tricky ! Working school hols I assume wouldn't be a prob as you have DH at home (apart from you having to work while they stay at home Grin)
It depends on can you survive on the lower pay but shorter hours ?

I want to be a teaching assistant & am chucking a job that pays twice as much, but I am fed up of juggling work & school !

Dh will work part time at the weekends to make up the money and to be honest the more we earn the less we get in tax credits and the less we earn the more we get so it all evens up somehow.

I think deep down it's 2 things, I love working with kids especially those with special needs and I also think I will find it hard to know that dh is at home all day with the kids while I have to work Blush So i really should take the chool job shouldn't I???

But in the mean time we have now used up all our savings and will be surviving on jsa and tax credits with a bit from my part time Home help. Which Is why I am thinking of advertising my home help services locally??

If the hospital one starts now why not take it and see how you are settling in nearer to the September start date of the other.
