What can I do for work?

Hello,
I am hoping for some advice as I really want to change career but just don't know what to do!
I am a part time office worker (cashier/admin) for the Council. I have a degree in English Lit (2:1) and good A Levels/GCSEs. I never used my degree as I went into cashiering and then had my child. Child is now at school full time and I would love to start more of a career that I'm actually interested in rather than feeling like I'm wasting my education. The trouble is, my hours at work now are great - I work 18.5 hours a week but am able to do mornings and finish in time to pick DS up from school. This is invaluable for us as the time with DS is great, and we save money on childcare fees.
My salary isn't minimum wage but really isn't great either, I wouldn't want to drop pay though.
Does anyone have any ideas of a career or job for me that would use my qualifications but tha tI could do on a part time basis, or am I wanting the moon on a stick?!

Have a look on your Borough's website to see what jobs are available in schools or colleges - Or local schools websites - there may be something interesting on there? Maybe Learning support or Teaching assistant? You might need to do an NVQ - how about Childminding?

Thanks - yes I wouldnt mind something like that. Probably pays similar to what I am on now.

I study with the OU and they have a kind of online career guide - have you tried doing something like that? Google career guidance and see if anything comes up. Or do more than one job? I work as a classroom assistant - part time, I also do freelance work as a window dresser - perhaps you could look for something in addition to what you do now?

When you did your degree did you have any idea what you wanted to do after University?

That's the problem - I was always good academically and just did an English degree because it was my best subject, but I had no idea what I wanted to do, apart from vague ideas about being a sport journalist! I looked into teaching but was put off by the careers people. I dont know! I'll have a look at some websites.
