Can anyone recommend a high quality professional careers advice service?

I'm looking for a professional career consultancy who can help me take stock as I seem to have taken a wrong turn in my career and I want help to find a different career track to be on. There seem to be a lot of scamsters about and I don't want to waste my time or money with a place that can't deliver what I need. Has anyone used a service like this that you can tell me about?

Everyone is entitled to a free advice session every year with the National Careers Service. I'd take that up before you consider paying anyone.

If you went to university consider using your university careers service too. DH did this when he lost his way a few years back and they gave him some usual contacts.
