Hi,

Silly question.....

Going for interview tomorrow for admin job (backoffice position).
Can I were black business like trousers with a simple top and a nice thin scarf?????

Never went like this to interview (well didnt for 10 years!!!).

I do not want to turn up in suit etc as it is a backoffice job really, and it is not really me??

Or is that silly?

thanks!!!!!!!!

Seems perfectly reasonable to me. The top should be more like a blouse than a tshirt though IYSWIM.

Sounds good, interview clothes can look smart without being suits and that sounds good so long, as DialM says, you have a blouse top not a t-shirt type top.

givemeaclue · 25/10/2012 13:41

Yes that is fine. A big smile counts for more than dress for me when interviewing

Pancakeflipper · 25/10/2012 13:46

Yes.
I interview people and expensive clothes don't impress the panel, what they like to see is someone has made an effort, that they think the interview/ job is worth some attention. Clean - that's the key. And clean shoes. I tidy my usual raggydoll self up when interviewing people. It's respectful to the people making the effort to come to see us.

Pancakeflipper · 25/10/2012 13:47

Ooh yes a smile. We expect nerves. We love smiles.

jaabaar · 25/10/2012 14:43

Ohhh thank you all sooooooooooooo much for the replies! Gives me a littel bit of confidence!

It is not a blouse though :((((((

It is a smart top (not t-shirt like), it is plain and the scarf colourful.

Well wish me all luck please please.

I have also decided not to prepare answers for questions. I know my job and I have reserached the company. I think that is all i need.

But nerves do let me down :(((

thanks to all again for having helped me, more than you know!

Good luck, go show them how fab you are.

givemeaclue · 25/10/2012 16:43

I would think in advance about questions though, other candidates will have

Pancakeflipper · 25/10/2012 16:50

Sounds a lovely outfit to me.

When they ask you a question, don't rush in with an answer. Consider it for a moment. Ask them to repeat it if you think you didn't get the gist of what they are asking.

Don't waffle.

And if you go off tangent then just stop smile and say sorry I am waffling, what I mean to say is..........

They are not there to trip you up. They want to hear good coherent answers to their questions. it costs a fortune interviewing people ( advertising/going through applicants/time spent interviewing etc). So they want to find someone who can fit into their company and be capable to do the job.

jaabaar · 25/10/2012 23:59

Thanks so much!

Ohh hh it is 23.58 I cant sleep :(((

Tomorrow is big day!

Thanks for giving me a bit of confidence! Lovely people you are! x
