Do you send cards? E-cards? Do you invite anybody for a drinks get-together? Do you feel a bit sad when you see everybody going out for their christmas lunches?

Mostly I don't miss not having an employer because I work with a lot of people (albeit from a distance) but I think i might be a bit sad this christmas when all my ex workmates talk about their christmas lunches...

DP and I are both self-employed so used to go out for our 'Christmas party' and have lunch at our local, very nice pub. One year I was invited to a not-the-office party by a friend who doesn't work. It was organised by another friend of hers and the other people there were SAHMs. That was quite fun.

So find a few people who are in the same position and have a Christmas lunch. I haven't done it for a few years, but may do it again now I have written this.

Do you network as part of your marketing? Networking groups often have a Christmas 'do'. I don't do a lot of networking now as I don't need to, but am going to the Christmas lunch of one group.

I do network, but not locally, i'm in a specialised field and my networks are UK-wide so unlikely to travel to get together around Christmas.

I do some work for my previous employer and there's one department there i'm still friendly with and could probably go and meet up with after their lunch for drinks in the pub.

I'd quite like to hang out with other freelancers a bit more I think - somebody mentioned getting a desk at a local office that was hiring them out (but then never came through with the info).. but I travel for work a lot so would be paying for a desk I wouldn't be at often.
