Non maternity related sickness while pregnant

Does it kick off maternity leave?

I am on long term sick with a non maternity related illness. Will work be able to kick in my maternity leave early because of this or can I stay on sick until due date and then move onto maternity.

Nope. Sickness has to be caused or exacerbated by pregnancy. If its entirely unrelated they can't start mat leave.

Thank you, thats what I thought, but my manager things differently.

They have been very good to me mind you so I wouldn't make a fuss.
