Working while DH stays home - any experiences?

I have two DCs, 2.7 and 7 months. At the moment I freelance from home and DH works full time, often very late nights/ early mornings. We are getting by, but DH isn't thrilled about his job and Im not getting much work. DH has the potential to freelance but onviusly would be a bit risky bith of us freelancing.
I was browsing job sites idly last night and came across a fulltime position I would love and be perfect for . The deadline for apps was coming up do I applied. DH was at work so doesn't know.
Obviously they might have a zillion better applicants than me but it had got me thinking about whether DH would agree to stay home (I think he would) and how I would feel, etc. DC1 already goes to kindy two days a week.
Does anyone have any experience of working while DH stays home?

Yup, works well for us... but DH was always a bit of a home bod. House is his domain. I think a lot of it comes down to how he views it - but people make all sorts of things work.

Thanks! Yes my DH is more of a homebody too, I think he would go for it and be great. And he could work a bit too, like I'm doing now. Was just interested to see how it worked for others, as I don't know anyone in RL with this set up.

I've a friend whose dh stays at home and she works ft. It's fine. They agreed for him to stay home as they felt he'd be the better sahp.

My dh works from home and I work outside. It's fine!

DH does this, he also runs a B&B and then does the house maintenance during the winter, but it is him that takes DC's to school and pick ups, tea etc, makes it easier now they are both in school.

My dh is a stay at home dad.

Tips from me would be to have Frank discussions on the division of housework, and expectations. The biggest arguments we had were over this. I had very high standards, and saw the housework as a 9-5 job in the week, and my dh had no idea of how much was actually done when he wasn't there!

Once you are in a routine it's normally ok. DH sometimes feels a bit inadequate I think, as he was used to being in a very "male" military environment full of typical alpha males. But them I felt the same when I stayed home, I would only spend my redundancy on myself, and not his money. So it would be important to talk about finances and personal expenditure if this is new too.

Thanks. DH has done the stay at home thing with DC1 for about four months when i had to work out of the home on a contract, and was great then, but then we swapped when I was about to have DC2. Agree chat re housework etc would be v important!!
