Just wondered if any of you live away from home Monday to Friday for work. What's it like? I'm looking at jobs in places 100+ miles away but that I wouldn't want to move to permanently and just wondered how feasible it really is.

I don't but DH does, he pays £400 a month for a room rental, shared house but owner lives in, rather than a studenty type shared house, all men and he is the eldest being in his 40's rest of them are in their 30's.
he leaves home on a Sunday evening and comes home on a Friday, leaves at 3pm so gets home about the same time as me and has taken to picking up our boys from After school and taking them off to spoil them rotten, I have a mooch about doing what I want for an hour or so before we get back together, it is hard on both of us as I am knackered from working all week and having total care of DB's but equally he misses home.
I believe there is a proper web site for monday to friday rentals don't know if it is just London or country wide, DH found his off the web for normal rentals, he was so unfussy he didn't even check it just phoned on the Friday and arrived on the Sunday rent in hand, but I would have had to go see first, but he does seemed to have landed on his feet.

we have a friend who has done it for 14 years he managed over the years to negotiate his work from home time up over the years and the only problem he ever had was he went on holiday for 2 weeks with his wife returned to his room rental and found his landlady's sister waiting for him, his landlady had died, the sister let him stay for 2 weeks before hoofing him out.

so it is doable
