Right. School visit this week

Hello :) I have an upcoming visit about a school based role.
Been a while since I went on one and since I didn't get the last one I am a bit

Two questions really.

a) What would be some good questions to ask? Mine always seem to get answered. The job in question is within Early Years.

b) What do I wear?!

Yes I am aware that b is a first world problem.

I would wear smart casual, which you can get down on the floor in easily. Also as it is in Early Years make sure you are aware of the changes to the Early Years Foundation Stage which came into force on 1st September this year.
You could ask some questions around the changes to see if they have fully implemented them or are unaware of them even!
Make sure you have knowledge of Safeguarding, in particular Child Protection & what your LA's procedures are, these in my county are available on line within the county website.
Hopefully someone else will come along & help you as well, btw I'm a childminder but am also affected by the changes in the EYFS as are schools Early Years classes, nursery & reception.

Headteachers want to see that you are keen polite and smart- I'd say trouser suits rather than smart casual. Make sure you talk to the kids but don't overdo the aren't they cute. Compliment the head on something unique about the school- art work- how well the kids behave- how much they learn. It's a good time to learn as much as you can about the school as you can before the interview. Small things can matter a great deal in school- so be sure not to park in anyone's spot. Often heads will ask the secretary how the candidates were towards him or her.
