Temping whilst Pregnant

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has experience of getting temp jobs whilst pregnant?

I am 7 weeks pregnant and due to be made redundant at Christmas. I won't be far enough along by then to get SMP plus I wouldn't want to start my mat leave that early anyway so the plan is to temp until I'm due then seek permanent work when i'm ready post baby.

I know firms taking me on wont have to pay me any mat pay but, as I will be showing by the time I'm looking for work I was wondering in anyone in similar situations have had problems securing temporary work due to their pregnancy? I just don't know what to expect as i haven't been 'on the job market' for over 10 yrs and, while I'm confident in my own abilities and professionalism I'm not confident that prospective employers, no matter how temporary the role is, won't take one look at my bump and shout 'NEXT!!'

Any advice/ experiences would be gratefullt recieved!

I temped when pregnant with my first DC and never had any problem at all. I had a few short term jobs (few days/week or so) but then got one where I stayed for four months until I was ready to go on maternity leave. All in all very positive.

I temped while pregnant because I'd been made redundant and I didn't think anyone would hire me with a big belly. That 6 week job lasted several months until DD1 was born. Then 4 months later the company asked if I'd be interested in some part time work - 14 years and another DD later I was still there, in full time permanent employment!

I also temped when pregnant and had no issues. The employer have no long term 'obligations' such as mat pay etc to you so as long as you do the work well and tick all their boxes then your belly shouldn't have anything to do with anything. The only slight sniff of dissapproval I sensed was when I got closer to the end of my pregnancy and my midwife appts became more frequent, and that's when a manager (renowned for having not much of a heart!) maybe got a little bit funny.

I have just secured an ongoing temp job, although temp the interviewers made it clear they want someone to stay a while. I am 14 weeks pregnant and haven't mentioned it to them or the temp agency and don't really want to until I am showing as I am scared they won't employ me. Is this wrong?
