12 weeks pregnant and at risk of redundancy

Hi everyone

I just have a question.

I am 12 weeks pregnant at at risk of redundancy, my employment will seize at the end of December.

My due date is mid-March so i will still be entitled to SML.

However, i have been wondering when I should let them know i am pregnant.

I am a little scared if I tell them now they might find a way for me to go sooner so they wouldn't have to pay the SML.

I have not yet got a bump so there is no real urgency to tell them yet :)

Any thoughts?

Tell them when you want, but they would be incredibly daft to get rid of you sooner - that would be outright sex discrim (given that you have already been notified of your redundancy), so not worth it to them.

Also employers reclaim the cost of SMP from the govt so that's never normally an issue.

Only issue might be if they have not already clearly confirmed (ideally in writing) that you are being kept until X date. Then they could do something, but TBH it's not in their interests to do anything.

Thanks very much StillSquiffy.

They have indeed given me written confirmation of my end date.

I will tell them in another two weeks. I have only really started telling people now.

Thanks for your help
