16 is the minimum for working tax credit if you are single, or part of a couple where one person gets carers allowance because they look after someone with a severe disability (mid or high rate care DLA).

24 is the minimum if these don't apply.

Am single mum and going back to work. Been offered two jobs of 16 hrs or 24 hrs wanted to know regarding tax credits etc which one id be better taking

You will always be better off by working more hours (assuming that the rate of pay per hour is the same for both jobs). The only time when it is sometimes better not to work is when you can't get a job with high enough hours to qualify for working tax credit.
